Self Advocacy

Are you interested in self-advocacy and meeting other like-minded people?

Self-Advocacy is learning how to speak up for yourself, making your own decisions about your own life, learning how to get information so that you can understand things that are of interest to you, finding out who will support you on your journey, knowing your rights and responsibilities, problem solving, listening and learning, reaching out to others when you need help and friendship, and learning about self-determination.

The Arc Allegany-Steuben’s Self-Advocates are committed to helping each other grow and find their own voice by creating opportunities for each person to be productive and independent by learning about rights and sharing personal stories and accomplishments. They attend conferences and meetings with others self-advocate groups within our region and work on volunteering and giving back to our local communities.
