Family Support Services

Crisis Intervention (Steuben County) – Services are provided to people in imminent need of supports to be maintained in their current environments.

Family Member Training (Steuben County) – Provides training to both people supported and/or their families around the specific disability, accessing needed services, and skill building around activities of daily living. This service can be paired with Crisis Services to help people/families as they transition from a crisis.

Individualized Community (Allegany County) – Provides individualized support and individualized community inclusion activities for individuals with special medical or behavioral needs. Individuals may require special individualized assistance or enhanced staffing patterns for successful participation in the community.

Enhanced Recreation (Steuben County) – The Recreation Program supports people living at home with their families who may need enhanced staffing or behavior supports, giving them the opportunity to participate in recreation activities with people from their community.

Family Reimbursement (Allegany and Steuben Counties) – Family Reimbursement is available to OPWDD eligible people who reside with their families. Family Reimbursement can reimburse families for expenses relating directly to the person’s OPWDD qualifying diagnosis. Access to Employment (Steuben County) – Receive mileage reimbursement and/or bus fare to and from a job for people who qualify for FSS services.
